UK artificial intelligence start-up DeepMind acquired by Google
Google has bought UK artificial intelligence start-up DeepMind for a reported $400 million (£232m).
The AI company specialises in algorithms and machine learning for e-commerce and games. It was founded by neuroscientist and former teenage chess prodigy Demis Hassabis, along with Shane Legg and Mustafa Suleyman.
This is the latest in a line of acquisitions from Google.
Towards the end of 2013, the firm acquired Boston Dynamics, a company that develops all-terrain robots for the US military.
And in January, Google purchased home technology company Nest as part of a $3.2 billion (£1.95bn) deal.Share on Facebook
