Box boasts over 50,000 movies and shows available for instant viewing on free and premium services
Roku has unveiled what it claims to be the new standard in streaming – the Roku 3.
The box includes a new processor and a brand-new interface for browsing online video. Roku says that, thanks to the new processor, the device is one of the most responsive streaming boxes available on the market.
The Roku 3 offers users a collection of more than 50,000 titles to watch instantly, covering free services such as BBC iPlayer, Demand 5, Crackle and VEVO and games like Angry Birds. Premium services available to stream through the box include Netflix, Spotify and NowTV. Videos can be watched in up to 1080p Full HD, with the Roku’s extended-range dual-band wireless connection designed to keep HD streaming smooth.
Features include a remote control with an integrated headphone jack for private listening – ideal for late-night viewers. The remote also features motion sensing technology, which can be used to play games. There’s also traditional buttons.
Instead of using the remote, users can download a free Roku app for either iOS or Android, which allows them to control the box using a mobile device. Control options in the app include watching shows, replaying moments and browsing the Channel Store.Share on Facebook
