Apple on Tuesday took the wraps off its highly-anticipated new smartphone, the iPhone 5S. Introducing the phone, Phil Schiller said. “iPhone 5S is perhaps the most forward thinking phone anyone has ever made”.
The phone will run on A7, a new 64-bit chip from Apple’s stable. “. It’s 64-bit chip. The first ever on a smartphone.,” claimed Apple.
Apple’s latest operating software, the iOS 7 has been completely reengineered for 64-bit. Apple’s apps are also 64-bit. “It’s over twice as fast in speed,” Apple claimed.
The phone, which is made of high-grade aluminum, with chamfered edges will be available in colours of silver, gold and a ‘new space gray’.
Another component that Schiller spoke about was the M7, a motion co-processor that will work along with A7. The phone has a battery life of 10 hours with 3G, said Apple. “It has a battery life of up 10 250 hours on standby. Battery is better than the iPhone 5, ” Schiller said.
The phone also sports a new, five-element Apple-designed lens with F2.2 aperture.

The latest smartphone from Apple has a Touch ID system. A security feature, the sensor which has been built right into the home button scans the user’s sub-epidermal skin layers.
“The ring around the home button is just a detection ring which turns on the Touch ID sensor,” said Apple. “The home button is sapphire so it won’t scratch. It can handle multiple fingerprints too,” Apple added.
The phone which will be available for pre-order from September 13th, will cost $199 for the 16 GB version. The 32GB version will be sold for $299 and the 64GB smartphone will cost $399.
Apple also unveiled a new smartphone, the iPhone 5C, which the company said is made from the ‘incredible technology’ of the iPhone 5.
Introducing the phone Phil Schiller said, ” The phone runs on a A6 processor, the same as iPhone 5. The phone has a slightly larger battery than iPhone 5.
The smartphone boasts of an 8-megapixel rear camera. It has a new HD Face Time feature on the front, which according to Apple supports larger pixels.
“It supports more LTE bands than any other smartphone in the world. Dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0,” Apple said.
The phone will be available in colours of green, white, blue, pink, and yellow. “The entire back and sides are made from a single part,” Schiller said.
Apple has also created custom cases with a “soft-feel silicon rubber.” While the phone will cost $99 for the 16GB version and $199 for the 32 GB one, the cases will be available for $29 each.
“This year, we’re going to replace the iPhone 5. With not one, but two new designs,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook before handing over the stage to Schiller.
Apple also said that the latest OS for its devices, the iOS 7 will be available from September 18.
The software will be available on devices from iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, iPad Mini and iPod 5th generation.
Craig Federighi talked about the company’s latest operating software, the iOS7, which had first been unveiled in June 2013.
Lock screen, multitasking were some of the features that Federighi chose to highlight about the OS. Apart from this the new enhanced features for camera and Siri were discussed.
iOS 7 also boasts of the iTunes Radio. “This month, we’ve been hard at work at completing iOS 7,” Apple’s CEO Tim Cook said. “iOS 7 will quickly become the world’s most popular operating system,” he claimed.
Cook kicked off the event by talking about the iTunes Festival, which is in its seventh year. “Apple doesn’t charge for tickets. 20 million people have applied for the music events,” he said.Share on Facebook
